Best of 2011: My reflection of the year in entertainment

I've been busy this year, so not lots of time devoted to entertainment as usual. But here are my picks for the year. Of course, this is not a thorough review coz I must have missed so many things. But as far as I've seen or listened to them, here are my favorites.

My favorite movies (not in any order) (not included those from Oscar 2010 e.g. Black Swan, King's Speech -- which are brilliant)

Midnight in Paris

Woody Ellen's tribute to (probably) his 2nd most favorite city in the world (2nd to New York, of course), and a very nice way of wrapping up my Paris trip this year. The film commemorates the way of life in the City of Lights that all artsy people want to travel back in time to live. It also asks you a very honest question about your very own contentment living at the very moment. Watch it if you haven't. Go to Paris if you haven't. Do both is highly recommended.

Drive

A craft piece. Beautiful cinematography. Great music. 1st rate ensemble with marvelous acting. Highly violent, yet there are moments of romance, humour, and redemption. It's a very cool movie. Every shot, every scene is well planned and beautifully executed.

X-Men First Class

I'm not a fan of super hero genre. I'm just a fan of great movies. And this one is deservingly so. Just how they put together the past of Magneto is also worth the money. The issue I have with super hero genre is that it is not believable. This one is atypical coz it is so believable that I fell in love with X-Men and made me watch all the other X-Mens that came before it (to disappointedly find out that this one is the best).

Bridesmaids

No, it is not your usual RomCom about a bridesmaid who is struggle to put together the best wedding to her best friend. Well, it is about a woman struggle to put together the best wedding to her best friend, but so much more. She is struggle with everything in life, finding out she is so emptied out at this point while others seem to be doing so well. It is so funny as much as it is so honest. So surprisingly good.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

It was not the best movie. In the middle, it was so lengthy. I do think it can stretch itself much more with better script and directing. But I like the feel of it. I like some scenes. I like the idea. I think it is the kind of movies that makes us think about where we stand on this planet. I love the scenes where the apes are taking over.

Crazy Stupid Love

The best RomCom (Romantic Comedy) of the year. And trust me, I watch lots of RomComs, I'm the queen of RomComs. It should put Ryan Gosling as sex god on the world map (if he's not there already). It is funny, cute, romantic, and got you to think just enough.

My favorite songs (and albums)

Surprise, surprise. There are very few favorite songs for me this year. It's almost like I don't listen to new music anymore, or there are not very good ones recently. So sad to see music industry gets destroyed like this. In pop, only a few names I can recall this year: Adele, and Bruno Mars.

Adele: Someone Like You

This girl is a dream. She sings from her heart (or it seems). She interprets many facets of love quite unlike anyone else, so profound, so honest, so intense. Someone Like You is only one of her many other great songs. I like what the host of Brit Awards talked about her, so I put it here.

"There's nothing quite like the feeling when you're listening to a song written by someone you don't know, whom you never met, who somehow managed to describe exactly what you felt at a particular moment in your life. This (next) artist is able to that time after time. If you've ever had a broken heart, you're about to remember it now, here's performing 'Someone Like You'. It's the beautiful Adele."

Bruno Mars: Grenade

Another very good pop singer when music industry is at loss of new bright shining stars. He has a great voice, with many great songs. I'm not that impressed with his album though, but overall a good singer.

My favorite new TV series

Game of Thrones

A new series from HBO about an exchange of thrones some time during middle age. So many characters to remember, but you'll get by. The production, the plot, and the acting are so fine. If you like the genre, you'll love it. It's dark, mysterious, well-crafted, and exciting.

New Girl

Zooey Deschanel (Yes, she is Summer from 500 Days of Summer) stars in this new series from Fox. It's a very gen Y story, but it heartens a gen X like me, so I like it. It's about a girl room-mating with three guys. She's very quirky and girly, they have some guy issues of their own, but they seem to get along. It's like watching weekly RomComs. Lighthearted and funny.

My favorite Season 9 Idol performances

I love American Idol. And my top 3 favorite shows of Season 9 are:

James Durbin: Maybe I'm Amazed (Paul McCartney)

Such a beautiful song. He sang it so honestly. You can almost touch it. It makes me love this song so much. Thanks James.

Jacob Lusk: God Bless the Child

This one is from Hollywood week. Jacob is amazing, and this song was his best performance. After this performance, how can you ever top that? Brilliant.

Pia Toscano: All in Love is Fair (Stevie Wonder)

Her voice is so beautiful and she killed that song. The song she picked is a great song by the great Stevie Wonder. Too bad she got kicked out so early. She's so good.

Old stuffs just found this year ^ ^

All in Love is Fair: Dionne Warwick

This will definitely go into my all-time favorite live performance. Dionne Warwick is so mesmerizing. Her phrasing, oh her phrasing. New singers don't sing like this anymore. What a classic. Cannot praise this enough.

The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

A wonderful French movie from 2007. Extraordinary and inspiring story from a real person, made into a movie so beautifully. Love it.

Departures (Okuribito)

A Japanese film that won Best Foreign Language Film from Oscar in 2009. A cellist turned encoffineer by chance. A film about life, death, courage, respect for self and others, and above all, hope.

Eva Cassidy: Somewhere Over the Rainbow

I have her songs in my iPod for over 4 years, but this year I have repaid my attention they deserve. She is so soulful. Her voice is so pure, and her style so magnetic and emotional. Can't believe lots of people don't know her. She is not cherished enough. Now I'm looking everywhere to get every record of hers.

พี่ตีกรอบให้น้ำ พี่รู้มั้ยน้ำอึดอัด น้ำอาจจะแรงบ้าง เบาบ้าง

ก็อยู่ที่พี่ทั้งนั้นแหละ น้ำรู้ว่าพี่ขาดน้ำไม่ได้ และตอนนี้พี่ก็ไม่ต้องการ

แต่น้ำยอมพี่มากพอแล้ว ดูแล้วกันว่าความอดทนน้ำจะทนได้แค่ไหน.....

จริงอยู่มันอาจเป็นความผิดของพี่ แต่เพราะพี่มีปัจจัยหลายๆอย่าง

ที่ต้องเลือกทางเดินให้น้ำแบบนั้น,,พี่อยากให้น้ำใจเย็นลงบ้างซักนิด

พี่ว่าอะไรๆมันน่าจะดีขึ้นนะไม่่ใช่ว่าพี่ไม่รัก ไม่ใช่ว่าพี่ไม่ต้องการ

แต่อะไรๆที่มันมากเกินไป มันทำให้พี่รู้สึกว่าพี่ไม่ปลอดภัย,,

น้ำเข้าใจพี่นะ เราห่างกันซักพัก ให้น้ำเย็นลงมากกว่านี้,,

แล้วเราค่อยเจอกันในวันที่น้ำอ่อนลง พี่ว่ามันยังไม่สาย

น้ำรู้ว่าพี่กรุงไม่ต้องการน้ำแล้ว รู้แล้วว่าพี่มีความสุขดีโดยที่ไม่มีน้ำ

แต่พี่กรุงจำได้หรือเปล่าว่า เราเคยมีความสุขกันมากขนาดไหน และน้ำรู้ว่าพี่ไม่พอใจที่น้ำกลับมาหาพี่

ถึงแม้ว่าที่ผ่าน ๆ มา น้ำจะทำไม่ดีกับคนอื่นมา แต่น้ำอยากให้รู้ว่า

น้ำแค่ใช้เป็นทางผ่านเพื่อมาหาพี่กรุงให้ได้เท่านั้น เราจะได้มีเวลาอยู่ด้วยกันทั้งวันทั้งคืน

น้ำอยากให้พี่กรุงรู้เอาไว้ว่า น้ำจะไม่ล้มเลิกความตั้งใจและตัดใจจากพี่กรุงเด็ดขาด

ถึงแม้ผู้ใหญ่ของพี่จะพยายามผลักดันน้ำให้ออกห่างจากพี่กรุงมากเท่าไหร่ก็ตาม แต่น้ำไม่แคร์ !!!

ถึงแม้ใครจะด่าน้ำว่าหน้าด้าน เบื่อน้ำ เกลียดน้ำก็ตาม น้ำก็จะไปอยู่กับพี่กรุงให้ได้ พี่กรุงคอยดูก็แล้วกัน

ถึงน้ำ..

เพราะน้ำเป็นอย่างนี้ไง เวลาที่น้ำใจเย็นๆนิ่งๆ

น้ำรู้มั๊ยว่ามันทำให้พี่เย็นใจมันทำให้พี่อยากอยู่ใกล้ อยากใช้เวลาร่วมกับน้ำนานๆ

แต่วันนี้น้ำคนเดิมของพี่หายไปไหน เพราะน้ำเป็นแบบนี้ไง น้ำอารมณ์รุนแรงมันทำให้พี่เริ่มรับมือไม่ไหว

พี่ถึงต้องพยายามเว้นช่องว่างระหว่างเราให้มันไกลกันขึ้น

เผื่อว่าระยะทางที่ห่างกัน มันจะทำให้ทุกอย่างระหว่างเราเบาบางลงบ้าง

พี่ยอมรับอย่างไม่มีข้อแก้ตัว ว่าก่อนหน้านี้พี่อาจทำร้ายจิตใจน้ำไปบ้างแต่,,แต่,,

แต่เพราะพี่มีคนอยู่ข้างหลัง ที่พี่ผลักไสน้ำออกไปเพราะต่อให้พี่รักน้ำมากเพียงใด

พี่ต้องรักครอบครัวพี่มากกว่าอยู่แล้วน้ำอาจจะกำลังตามหาพี่ทั่วกรุงเทพแล้วก็ได้,,

เมื่อหลายชั่วโมงที่แล้วมีคนเห็นน้ำป้วยเปี้ยนอยู่แถวหน้าโรงเรียนราชินี

น้ำทำแบบนี้ทำไม น้ำจะทำร้ายคนที่ไม่เกี่ยวข้องไปถึงไหน..

น้ำพอก่อนดีมั๊ย น้ำกลับไปในที่ของน้ำก่อน วันใดที่อะไรๆมันดีขึ้น

วันนั้นเราค่อยเจอกันอีกครั้ง พี่สัญญาว่าพี่จะเปิดก๊อกด้วยมือของพี่เอง และหวังอย่างยิ่งว่าเมื่อถึงตอนนั้น

น้ำจะกลับมาเป็นน้ำทีรักของพี่เหมือนเดิม

รักและหวังดีกับน้ำมาตลอด

จดหมายตอบกลับจาก...น้ำ

พี่จ๋าพี่ไม่รักน้ำแล้วหรอ พี่หนีน้ำทำไม น้ำอุตส่าห์รอนแรมผ่านนครสวรรค์ อยุธยา ปทุมธานีเพื่อมาหาพี่ที่ กทม.

แต่...พี่ก็กีดกันไล่น้ำทุกวิถีทางไม่ให้น้ำได้เจอพี่ แถมยังกันไม่ให้น้ำเข้าบ้านพี่อีก TT'

พี่ไม่นึกถึงวันเก่าๆที่เราเคยเล่นสงกรานต์ด้วยกันอย่างมีความสุขหรอ น้ำยังจำได้ดี

ตอนนั้นพี่ต้องการน้ำมาก ต่อให้แพงแค่ไหนพี่ก็สู้ ตอนนี้พอน้ำใกล้จะถึงบ้านพี่ พี่ก็ขับรถหนีน้ำไปบนทางด่วนอีก

ปล. สุดท้ายนี้น้ำจะรอพี่ที่บ้านอีก2เดือนนะจ๊ะ

พี่อยากจะบอกน้องน้ำว่า พี่ยังรอน้องน้ำอยู่ทุกลมหายใจ เมื่อเขารังเกียจไม่มีใครต้องการแล้วเราจะอยู่ทำไมให้เขาขับไล่ไสส่ง

กลับมาอยู่ในที่ของเราเถอะ พี่กรุงเขากำลังหลงอยู่กับ แสง สี เสียง

ก็ปล่อยเขาอยู่กับนังทรายต่อไปก็แล้วกัน กลับมาไวๆนะ พี่ทะเลรออยู่และจะรอตลอดไป

ทรายอยากให้น้ำรู้ไว้นะ ว่าน้ำเป็นเพียงอดีต ของพี่กรุง!

ทรายจะทำทุกวิถีทาง เพื่อกีดกันน้ำ..ไม่ให้พบกับพี่กรุง ,

ผู้ใหญ่เค้าก็ เห็นดีเห็นชอบกับทราย

..ให้ทรายคอยกันน้ำไปทางอื่น และถึงแม้ว่า ผู้ใหญ่เค้าจะบอกว่า "เอาอยู่"

แต่น้ำก็ยังไม่ยอมหยุดที่จะทำลายทรายและพี่กรุง

ขอร้องเถอะนะน้ำ อย่ามาทำให้ใครต่อใครต้องชอกช้ำ เพราะน้ำไปมากกว่านี้เลย T^T

"ทรายสัญญาจะดูแลพี่กรุงให้ดีที่สุด" และไม่ว่าน้ำจะลดละ หรือ ไหลบ่า ท่วมทุ่ง

ซักกี่ลูกบาศ์กเมตรก็ตาม ทรายก็จะคอยหนุนและเปลี่ยนน้ำ ให้ไปทางอื่นให้ได้!

เพราะความรักของน้ำที่มีต่อพี่กรุงมันมากมาย ใครก็ห้ามและช่วยกันพี่กรุงจากน้ำ ไม่ได้หรอก

ถึงน้องทราย และเจ้ากรุง

พี่อิฐเข้าใจว่าน้องทรายรักอ้ายกรุง เพื่อนสนิทพี่แค่ไหน

ที่ผ่านมาน้องทรายก็พยายามปกป้องกรุงจากน้ำมาตลอด

แม้ว่าจะต้องเหนื่อยจนตัวเปียกปอน ถูกกระชาก ถูกโยน ถูกเหยียบ อดหลับอดนอนอย่างไร น้องก็ทนอยู่เพื่อปกป้องกรุง

น้องคงรู้ดีกว่าถ้าน้ำยอมจากไป กรุงอาจไม่เห็นความสำคัญของทรายอีกต่อไป น้องก็ยังทน

แต่พี่ทนให้น้องอยู่โดดเดี่ยวไม่ได้ พี่ก็รู้ว่าน้องไม่ได้เห็นพี่อยู่ในสายตาเลย พี่จะคอยอยู่เคียงข้างน้องต่อไป

แม้ว่าจะต้องแหลกสลาย พี่ก็จะอยู่เป็นด่านหน้าปกป้องน้องทรายและกรุงจากน้องน้ำ

ถ้าน้ำจะทำลายน้องทราย ต้องผ่านศพพี่ไปก่อน!!!!

ปล.กรุง แกรู้ไหมว่าความเนื้อหอมของแกทำให้น้องทรายเขาเดือดร้อนนนนนน

จดหมายถึงพี่น้ำ จากน้องยา(แนว)

พี่น้ำคะ น้องยาเห็นใจพี่น้ำมากค่ะที่ถูกผู้ใหญ่คอยกีดกันความรักระหว่างพี่กับพี่กรุง

ถึงแม้ว่ายาจะได้เข้าไปอยู่ในบ้านของพี่กรุง แต่ยาก็ถูกคนในบ้านเหยียบย่ำ ซ้ำเติมมาตลอด ไม้เว้นแม้กระทั่งพี่กรุงเอง

ยิ่งทุกคนในบ้านได้ข่าวว่าพี่น้ำจะมา นอกจากทุกคนในบ้านจะให้ความสำคัญกับนังทรายมากเป็นพิเศษแล้ว ยังยัดเยียดซ้ำเติมยา

ซ้ำแล้ว ซ้ำอีก จนยาแน่นและอึดอัดไปหมด เพราะทุกคนเข้าใจว่า ยาจะใจอ่อนให้พี่น้ำเข้ามาในบ้านแต่โดยดี

ยาสงสารพี่น้ำนะคะ แต่พี่น้ำต้องเห็นใจยาด้วยนะคะ ยาทนอยู่ในสภาพที่ต้องรับแรงกดดันแบบนี้ต่อไปได้อีกไม่นานแล้วนะคะ

แล้วถ้าถึงเวลานั้นพี่น้ำอยากจะเจอพี่กรุงก็ตามสบายเลยค่ะ เพราะยาจะปล่อยให้พี่น้ำได้พบกับพี่กรุงโดยที่นังทรายตั้งรับไม่ทันเลยค่ะ

คุณรู้มั้ยว่าเราอยากได้อะไร...

เราอยากได้... นักการเมืองที่ไม่โกง

...ไม่เอาเงินภาษี ...เงินของประชาชน ...ไปเป็นของตัวเอง

เราอยากได้... ข้าราชการที่ไม่สมคบคิดกับนักธุรกิจ

แล้วมาเอาเปรียบประชาชน

เราอยากได้... คนที่มีความละอายต่อความชั่ว

เราผิด ที่เคยยอมรับและยิ่งเฉย

ต่อไปนี้ เราจะยืนอยู่บนความถูกต้อง

เราจะไม่ยอมรับความโกงทุกรูปแบบ

เราจะจับตาดูพวกคุณ

และเราจะลุกขึ้นมาต่อต้านความโกง

...เพราะมันเป็นหน้าที่ของคนไทยทุกคน

วันนี้วันที่ยี่สิบ เหมือนเดิมนะครับ ..ผมอยากจะคุยเรื่อง.. ไม่ต้องมีแผนที่ ไม่ต้องมีเรื่องน้ำ ไม่ต้องมีเรื่องอะไรเลยนะครับ

วันนี้เราจะต้องไปด้วยกันครับ

ผมคนลูกเจ้าพระยา บ้านผมอยู่อยุธยา ผมว่ายแม่น้ำสายนี้มาตั้งแต่เด็ก แม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา แม่น้ำป่าสัก บ้านผมครับ ที่ราบน้ำท่วมถึงผืนนี้ ผมเล่นน้ำตอนน้ำท่วมมาครับ ผมจะบอกว่า แม่เจ้าพระยาไม่ได้ตั้งใจทำร้ายใคร แม่เจ้าพระยาทำเป็นธรรมชาติ มนุษย์เข้ามาอยู่ในที่ที่เค้าต้องท่วม ดังนั้น เราจะอยู่กับเค้าได้ยังไง ขอให้คิดอย่างนี้ วันนี้ความเสียหายที่เกิดมากกว่าน้ำ ก็คือการที่เราเห็นแก่ตัว การที่เราแย่งนมกระป๋องเดียว

การที่เราแย่งมาม่าซองเดียว มันกินได้ไม่กี่วันหรอกครับ งานนี้เราอยู่กันเป็นเดือน เราจะอยู่ได้ด้วยการแบ่งกัน

แล้วน้ำท่วมคราวนี้ มันจะสอนให้เราอีกหลายเรื่อง ทำให้เราแกร่งขึ้น ทำให้ชุมชนเรารักกันมากขึ้น ทำให้ครอบครัวเราอยู่ด้วยกันมากขึ้น ทำให้สังคมได้ร่วมกันคิด การที่เราอยู่กับน้ำ เราต้องผลิตภูมิปัญญาอะไร เราต้องไปคิดค้น สืบค้นว่าสมัยปู่ย่าตายาย เค้าอยู่กันมายังไง เราจะได้คุยกับคนเฒ่าคนแก่

วันนี้ ถ้าให้ผมแนะนำ หนึ่ง รักษาตัวเองก่อน ถ้าน้ำท่วม หาสะพาน ทำไม้กระดาน ทำยังไงก็ได้ อย่าเหยียบน้ำ อย่าเหยียบนาน ถ้าน้ำกัดเท้า เราไปหาหมอยากครับ แล้วเราจะอยู่เดือนสองเดือนลำบาก อย่าโชว์พลัง โชว์พาวเวอร์ไปเก็บของ อย่าห่วงสมบัติมากครับ เดี๋ยวถ้าเป็นไข้ไป เราจะพลาดโอกาสในการดูแลคนในครอบครัวเรา แล้วเราจะเป็นภาระของคนอื่น ไปหาหมอหยูกยาก็ลำบาก ผมอาจจะแนะนำไม่เหมือนคนอื่น แต่ผมคิดว่า รักษาตัวเองไว้ รักษาไว้ทำไม หน้าที่ของเราไม่ใช่การเอาตัวรอดนะครับ แต่หน้าที่ของเราก็คือ การช่วยเหลือเอื้ออาทรณ์ต่อคนที่อ่อนแอกว่าเราในภาวะเช่นนี้

เรื่องนี้ไม่ใช่เรื่องใหญ่ครับ ขับรถออกไปทางตะวันตกอีกสี่สิบกิโล ถึงราชบุรี ที่นั่น อาหาร น้ำท่าอุดมสมบูรณ์ ถึงเมืองกาญฯ น้ำท่าอุดมสมบูรณ์ ไม่มีน้ำท่วมครับ ออกไปทางชลบุรี น้ำท่าอุดมสมบูรณ์ ไม่มีน้ำท่วมครับ เราไม่ใช่เรื่องใหญ่เลยครับ

พี่น้องร่วมชาติของเรา อยู่รอบๆตัวเรา และพร้อมที่จะช่วยเรา

เราจะไปด้วยกันครับ เราจะฝ่าไปด้วยกัน ไม่ว่าจะเป็นคุณสุขุมพันธ์ คุณปู หรือใครก็ตาม คุณประชา ผมคิดว่าไม่ใช่เวลาที่จะมาทะเลาะเบาะแว้งกัน แต่เป็นเวลาที่จะต้องไปด้วยกันให้ได้ครับ การที่ทำให้เกิดภาวะที่โกลาหลไม่เป็นผลดีใดๆเลย เราต้องอยู่กันอีกนานครับ

จากวิกฤติครั้งนี้ แม้จะไม่มีน้ำ แม้จะไม่มีอาหาร ผมคิดว่าเรารอดได้ เราไปได้ มนุษย์เราสามารถผ่านเรื่องราวแบบนี้ไปได้ครับ ผมมีรูป Stone Hedge อยู่ที่ห้องนอนผม ตอนนี้ผมเอามาไว้ที่ห้องน้ำมูลนิธิ ผมยกขึ้นมา ผมมีความฝันครับ

เราอาจจะพากรุงเทพฯรอดไปด้วยกันก็ได้ ถ้าเราเห็นโอกาส เห็นความรัก และเห็นหน้าที่ที่เราจะต้องออกไปช่วยเหลือคนอื่น เพราะพอเราไม่มองตัวเองปั๊บ ความวุ่นวายที่มันเกิดขึ้น มันจะถูกจัดระเบียบ ออกมาเป็นจิตอาสา ออกมาร่วมกัน เราจะไม่โทษกันในภาวะเช่นนี้ เราจะต้องผ่านมันไปด้วยกัน

จะเกิดอะไรขึ้นก็ตาม เรามีหน้าที่ที่จะฟื้นฟูประเทศนี้ไปด้วยกันครับ บ้านของผม ลุ่มน้ำเจ้าพระยา ใครจะมาอยู่ เราปรับตัวอยู่ร่วมกับเค้า เค้าเป็นมิตร เค้าให้โอกาสกับเราเยอะ วันนี้ เค้าให้โอกาสเราได้เรียนรู้ครั้งใหญ่ มองเห็นรึเปล่าครับสิ่งที่ invisible หลังจากนี้ เราจะพัฒนาชาติร่วมกัน ทำให้ประเทศของเราเข้มแข็ง แล้วก็เติบโตอย่างก้าวกระโดด ผมเชื่ออย่างนั้นครับ.

France with Khunnai #2: The Fresh Memory

สัญญากับผู้คนและตัวเองไว้ว่าจะบล็อคทริปฝริ่งเศสอย่างเป็นจริงเป็นจัง เมื่อเดือนก่อนเพิ่งบล็อคเรื่องเตรียมตัวกันไป ยังเล่าเรื่องเตรียมตัวไม่ทันจบ ก็ถึงเวลาไปซะแล้ว สองสัปดาห์ผ่านไปไวเหมือนโกหก แปร๊บๆ จบทริป คุณนายกลับเมืองไทยซะแล้ว แต่ก่อนที่จะบล็อครายละเอียดเรื่่องเที่ยว คุณนายอยากบันทึกความรู้สึกและความทรงจำที่อยู่ในใจซะก่อน ขณะที่ความรู้สึกมันยังสดๆอยู่

หลายคนสงสัย ว่าทำไมไปนานจัง แล้วไปแค่ประเทศเดียวเอง ที่สำคัญ ไปแค่ปารีสกับโพรวองซ์! ไปทำอะไรตั้งสองสัปดาห์ คำตอบคือ คุณนายเป็นคนรักรายละเอียด รักที่จะจดจำสิ่งละอันพันละน้อย เรียกง่ายๆ ว่าชอบเที่ยวแบบอ้อยอิ่ง ขอเอ้อระเหยเสียเวลากับโน่นนั่นนี่ให้มันรู้สึกอิ่มเอมก่อนจะดอดไปอีกที่หนึ่ง แล้วไอ้การเที่ยวแบบอ้อยอิ่งนี่แหล่ะที่จะทำให้เราได้พบได้เห็นอะไรที่มันไม่ได้อยู่ในแผนการเที่ยวของเรา และสิ่งเหล่านั้นมันมักจะเป็นสิ่งที่พิเศษที่สุดในทริปเสมอๆ

ในหลายๆทริปที่เราไป เราสนุกกับทริปเพราะเราได้ไปกับคนที่รู้ใจ ที่สนิท ที่สร้างสีสันให้ทริปนั้นได้สนุก แม้ว่ามันอาจจะเป็นสถานที่เที่ยวธรรมดาๆ ไม่ได้มีอะไรเลิศเลอใหญ่โตโอฬาร ไม่ได้เป็นที่เที่ยวในฝันอะไรขนาดนั้น หรือในหลายๆทริป เราก็ยอมไปเที่ยวทั้งๆที่หาคนถูกใจไปด้วยไม่ได้ เพราะสถานที่ที่ไปมันช่างโดนใจเหลือเกิน ใฝ่ฝันว่าจะไปมาตลอด กลัวพลาดไม่ได้ไปแล้วจะเสียใจ เราก็สนุกกับทริปเพราะเราได้ไปพบไปเห็นสิ่งที่เราอยากเห็นมานานแสนนาน...

คงมีไม่บ่อยครั้งนัก (อย่างน้อยก็จริงมากกับคุณนาย) ที่ทั้งสองอย่างมาอยู่รวมกันในทริปเดียวกัน เราได้ไปดินแดนที่เราใฝ่ฝันจะไป ได้เสพย์ความงามตามธรรมชาติ งานศิลปะ วัฒนธรรมการกิน การใช้ชีวิต และเราได้สัมผัสประสบการณ์มีค่าเหล่านั้นกับคนที่เราสนิทใจ เผอิญเหลือเกินที่ผู้ร่วมทริปนี้นั้นก็ชอบงานศิลปะ ชอบงานสถาปัตยกรรม ชอบเมืองเก่า ชอบประวัติศาสตร์ ชอบวัฒนธรรม ชอบการใช้ชีวิต และที่สำคัญ.. ชอบเที่ยวแบบอ้อยอิ่งเหมือนคุณนาย (อาจจะมากกว่าด้วยซ้ำ!)

มันทำให้ประสบการณ์ + ความรู้สึก มันลึกขึ้นอีกหลายเท่า...จริงๆ นะ

มันเลยทำให้ได้สัมผัสกับช่วงเวลาพิเศษที่ทำให้ทริปนี้พิเศษและน่าจดจำที่ปารีสเราเลยได้นั่งนิ่งๆบนม้านั่งในLuxembourg Garden ดูต้นไม้สีสวยๆที่เปลี่ยนสีในฤดูใบไม้ร่วงเห็นคนมานั่งพลอดรัก นั่งอ่านหนังสือ พาสุนัขมาเดินเล่นเห็นชีวิตคนปารีสผ่านไปอย่างช้าๆ ที่ไอเฟิล เรามีเวลานั่งดูหอไอเฟิล ตั้งแต่แสงอาทิตย์รำไรไปจนพระอาทิตย์ตก แสงท้องฟ้าเป็นสีฟ้าอ่อนๆ ไปจนมืด เห็นแต่แสงไฟที่ประดับบนหอไอเฟิลกับลำแสงที่สาดเป็นทางจากบนยอดหอเราได้นั่งรอช่วงเวลาพิเศษที่เค้ากระพริบไฟบนหอไอเฟิลเป็นเวลาเกือบห้าที ในทุกๆหนึ่งชั่วโมงทำให้เมืองปารีสช่วงค่ำคืน โรแมนติกเพิ่มขึ้นไปอีก

ที่ลูฟร์มิวเซียม เราได้เดินอย่างที่เราอยากเดินไม่ได้แค่เพ่งตรงไปที่ส่วนไฮไลท์ ได้ใช้เวลาทั้งวันที่นั่น ที่ออร์เซย์ก็เช่นกัน เราได้พินิจงานของศิลปินที่เราชอบอย่างDegas, Manet, Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh, Gaugin, Courbet เราได้ดูงานเฟอร์นิเจอร์อาร์ตนูโวสวยๆที่ปอมปิดูเราไปค้นพบจุดชมวิวทั่วทั้งปารีสที่เราประทับใจที่สุดบนชั้นบนสุดของมิวเซียมด้านนอกของมิวเซียมเป็นจุดชมวิวและถ่ายรูปที่สวยมากจริงๆ ที่มาเรส์ เราได้เดินเข้าไปด้านหลังโรงแรมเก่า ที่เป็นสวนเล็กๆ ของโรงแรมที่เป็นความน่ารักที่ซ่อนอยู่ เราได้นั่งพักผ่อนในจตุรัสเก่าสุดโรแมนติกที่เคยเป็นที่ที่แฮปเพนนิ่งมากของปารีส ที่มองมาร์ต เราได้หลุดเข้าไปในจตุรัสเล็กๆอันนึง ที่เป็นบ้านพักเก่าของปิคาสโซ ตรงกลางจตุรัสเป็นต้นไม้ร่มรื่น มีคนแก่ๆสองคนมาหมุนเครื่องดนตรีเป็นเพลงเก่าฟังแล้วได้อารมณ์มากเราเห็นแม่อุ้มลูกเต้นรำไปกับเสียงดนตรี ที่แวร์ซาย เราได้เดินดูวังเล็กที่พระนางมารีอังตัวเน็วตใช้ชีวิตอยู่ในช่วงที่พระองค์อยากปลีกวิเวกจากผู้คนมันเป็นวังที่ไกลออกไปจากวังหลักของแวร์ซายมากได้เดินเล่นในสวนของพระองค์ซี่งไม่ใหญ่เท่าสวนแวร์ซายแต่เป็นส่วนตัวกว่าได้เห็นแวร์ซายกับแสงสุดท้ายของวันก่อนพระอาทิตย์ตกจึงเห็นพระราชวังสีทองและเงาสะท้อนบนน้ำเป็นสีทองเช่นกัน

อีกสัปดาห์นึงเราไปโพรวองซ์เราใช้เวลาไปวันละสองสามเมือง เราไม่ยอมไปแค่เมืองที่เค้าเขียนไว้ในไกด์บุ๊ค แต่เราถามจากลุงๆป้าๆ ที่เป็นเจ้าของ B&B ที่เราพักอยู่ว่าที่ไหนลุงป้าชอบ เราเลยได้ไปเมืองที่หานักท่องเที่ยวแทบไม่ได้เรียกว่านับก้อนอึหมาที่คนฝรั่งเศสพามาเดินเล่นยังเยอะกว่านักท่องเที่ยว เราได้ไปสั่งอาหารสเปนเป็นภาษาฝรั่งเศสกระท่อนกระแท่นในเมืองที่ไม่มีร้านอาหารอื่นเปิดเลยแต่สิ่งที่เราได้กลับมาคือเมืองเล็กๆ ที่ไม่มีอิทธิพลของการพยายามเอาใจนักท่องเที่ยวมาแทรกแซงและแต่ละเมืองก็ยังมีสถาปัตยกรรมที่หลงเหลือจากยุคกลางเก่าๆ ที่คงสภาพอย่างไรอย่างนั้นเพราะเมืองคงไม่มีเงินบูรณะ เราได้เห็นป้อมปราการเก่า วังเก่า ที่อวินยอง เราไม่ได้ดูแค่Palais de Pape ที่โด่งดัง แต่เราข้ามฝั่งไปที่วิลเลจเล็กๆ นอกอวินยอง ไปดูวัดเก่าที่โป๊ปเคยสร้างไปดูป้อมปราการเก่า ที่ทำให้เราได้เห็นวิวของโพรวองซ์ที่สวยงามมากในเวลาที่แสงอาทิตย์เป็นสีทองพอดีที่แซงเรมี่ เราได้ตามรอยแวนโก๊ะไปดูโรงพยาบาลที่เค้าพักอยู่เป็นเวลาปีกว่า กับพื้นที่รอบๆที่สร้างแรงบันดาลใจให้เค้าเขียนภาพสำคัญๆ ในช่วงท้ายของชีวิต และที่เซอร์ไพรส์มากคือเราได้ไปเมืองโบราณสมัยโรมันเก่าที่เรียกว่าGlanum ที่เค้าขุดเจอในโพรวองซ์ เราได้ขับรถตามทางอันฉวัดเฉวียนได้ดูไร่องุ่น ไร่มะกอก สองข้างทาง จากเนินเขาต่ำๆ ไปจนถึงยอดเขาสูง ขับผ่านหุบเขาเลยเห็นวิวของบ้านเมืองทั้งหมดขับรถผ่านทุ่งหญ้าในช่วงอาทิตย์ตกดิน เห็นแสงท้องฟ้าสีสวยเหมือนศิลปินimpressionism แต้มสี เห็นก้อนเมฆก่อตัวเป็นรูปร่างสวยเหมือนใครบรรจงสร้างไว้ ได้ดูAquaduct เก่าที่ชาวโรมันสร้างไว้ ในตอนที่ไม่มีนักท่องเที่ยวคนไหนอีกแล้วนอกจากเราอยู่จนมืด จนเห็นเค้าเปิดไฟเป็นสีต่างๆ ตกแต่งให้ Aquaduct ดูน่าตื่นตาตื่นใจยิ่งขึ้นได้ไปกิน Lunch ที่ร้านอาหารสุดอร่อยนอกเมือง ที่ซึ่งเราเป็นเอเชียหนึ่งเดียว เมนูฟูลคอร์สเสิร์ฟอย่างดีและอาหารอร่อยมากๆๆ ในทุกอย่าง ในราคาที่ไม่น่าเชื่อ ได้เห็นเมืองโบราณบนหุบเขาหลายเมืองภาพที่เห็นมันเป็นความงามที่ลงตัวของธรรมชาติ อารยธรรมเก่าชาวโรมัน และวัฒนธรรมของชาวโพรวองซ์ที่เมืองเลอบู เราอยู่ตั้งแต่เย็นจนค่ำจนดึก เดินเมืองโบราณเล็กๆ นี้มันประมาณสามรอบครึ่งเพราะอยากเห็นเมืองในสามสีที่ต่างกัน

เรายังได้ผจญภัยได้ตื่นเต้น ตกใจ ได้เครียด ได้งง ได้แก้ปัญหา ได้เหนื่อย ยังจำตอนที่ต้องยกกระเป๋าขึ้นลงบันไดในสถานีรถไฟต่างๆเพราะเราไม่ขี้นแท๊กซี่ เวลาที่เดินผ่านทางเดินที่มีคุณตัวรุ่นป้ายืนหาลูกค้าในซอยอพาร์ทเม้นท์ที่เราอยู่(อันนี้ตลกมากกว่าอันตราย) ตอนที่เดินหลงทางหาถนนไม่่เจอจนงง เวลาเดินหาห้องน้ำในกลางเมืองปารีสตอนสี่ทุ่ม เวลานั่งรถไฟใต้ดินร่วมกับกองเชียร์ทีมปารีสแซงค์แยเมงในแมชท์ที่เค้าแพ้เวลาเดินจากแวร์ซายกลับสถานีรถไฟในตอนที่ไม่มีนักท่องเที่ยวเหลือแล้ว ท้องฟ้ามืดสนิทอากาศเริ่มหนาว ลมแรง ปากสั่น คืนสุดท้ายที่ต้องตามหาปั๊มน้ำมันที่ยังเปิดอยู่ในเวลาสามทุ่มและยอมรับบัตรเครดิตจำได้ว่าปั๊มที่เจอเป็นปั๊มที่หกที่เราหากัน การพยายามขับรถเลนตรงข้าม พวงมาลัยตรงข้ามในรถที่ใหญ่มากบนเลนถนนที่เล็กเกินรถสองคันจะวิ่งสวนกันได้ กี่ครั้งต่อกี่ครั้งที่เลี้ยวเข้าเลนผิดที่ขับเลย การทำความเข้าใจกับระบบการจอดและการจ่ายเงินค่าจอดรถของโพรวองซ์หลังจากโดนใบสั่งไปหนึ่งใบ

เรายังได้พบเพื่อนใหม่ได้เจอเจ้าของอพาร์ทเมนต์และ Bed & Breakfast ที่ใจดี มีเทสต์เป็นเลิศ ที่ทำที่พักเพราะอยากรู้จักเพื่อนใหม่ต่างเมืองได้เจอนักท่องเที่ยวที่อยากคุยกับนักท่องเที่ยวคนอื่น โดยเฉพาะนักท่องเที่ยวที่ดูยังเด็ก(เมื่อเทียบกับเค้า) และไม่ใช่ฝรั่ง ได้รับความใจดีจากคนฝรั่งเศสทุกคนที่ช่วยบอกทางช่วยแปลภาษา หลายๆ คนช่วยทั้งๆที่พูดอังกฤษไม่ได้

ว่าจะเขียนสั้นๆแต่พอเริ่มเขียนแล้วเรื่องราวต่างๆ ก็พร่างพรูออกมาอย่างไม่มีหมด ประทับใจกับความอึดของตัวเองและผู้ร่วมทริปที่เรามักจะเป็นนักท่องเที่ยวกลุ่มสุดท้ายเสมอ ดีใจที่ไปมันแค่ประเทศเดียวแต่ได้กลับมาอย่างเยอะขอบคุณนะคะปารีส ขอบคุณนะคะโพรวองซ์ ขอบคุณนะคะผู้ร่วมทริป :)

Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish

I want to bid farewell to 'a single, razor-focused, deeply opinionated, micromanaging, uncompromising, charismatic, persuasive, mind-blowingly visionary leader' [taken from nytimes.com]. Yesterday Steve Jobs has resigned from Apple CEO and will remain only as the chairman of the company. Thank you Steve to all the innovations you have brought to life. But not just that thanks for your inspiration by loving and having faith in what you do. Thanks for not settling, for your team, and for yourself. I am just one of billions of your biggest fans. I don't wish to have a life like you, I think very tiny few would come close to that, changing the way people live in so many ways, so many times. I just wish I will live with as much courage and passion.

I read his speech at Stanford graduation ceremony many times over, as well as put it on my note in facebook. What makes Steve Jobs great isn't really his genius in coming up with groundbreaking innovations, but it is his attitude towards life. And it's all there in this speech he made in 2005. Khunnai Noi

"I am honored to be with you today at your commencement from one of the finest universities in the world. I never graduated from college. Truth be told, this is the closest I've ever gotten to a college graduation. Today I want to tell you three stories from my life. That's it. No big deal. Just three stories.

The first story is about connecting the dots.

I dropped out of Reed College after the first 6 months, but then stayed around as a drop-in for another 18 months or so before I really quit. So why did I drop out?

It started before I was born. My biological mother was a young, unwed college graduate student, and she decided to put me up for adoption. She felt very strongly that I should be adopted by college graduates, so everything was all set for me to be adopted at birth by a lawyer and his wife. Except that when I popped out they decided at the last minute that they really wanted a girl. So my parents, who were on a waiting list, got a call in the middle of the night asking: "We have an unexpected baby boy; do you want him?" They said: "Of course." My biological mother later found out that my mother had never graduated from college and that my father had never graduated from high school. She refused to sign the final adoption papers. She only relented a few months later when my parents promised that I would someday go to college.

And 17 years later I did go to college. But I naively chose a college that was almost as expensive as Stanford, and all of my working-class parents' savings were being spent on my college tuition. After six months, I couldn't see the value in it. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and no idea how college was going to help me figure it out. And here I was spending all of the money my parents had saved their entire life. So I decided to drop out and trust that it would all work out OK. It was pretty scary at the time, but looking back it was one of the best decisions I ever made. The minute I dropped out I could stop taking the required classes that didn't interest me, and begin dropping in on the ones that looked interesting.

It wasn't all romantic. I didn't have a dorm room, so I slept on the floor in friends' rooms, I returned coke bottles for the 5¢ deposits to buy food with, and I would walk the 7 miles across town every Sunday night to get one good meal a week at the Hare Krishna temple. I loved it. And much of what I stumbled into by following my curiosity and intuition turned out to be priceless later on. Let me give you one example:

Reed College at that time offered perhaps the best calligraphy instruction in the country. Throughout the campus every poster, every label on every drawer, was beautifully hand calligraphed. Because I had dropped out and didn't have to take the normal classes, I decided to take a calligraphy class to learn how to do this. I learned about serif and san serif typefaces, about varying the amount of space between different letter combinations, about what makes great typography great. It was beautiful, historical, artistically subtle in a way that science can't capture, and I found it fascinating.

None of this had even a hope of any practical application in my life. But ten years later, when we were designing the first Macintosh computer, it all came back to me. And we designed it all into the Mac. It was the first computer with beautiful typography. If I had never dropped in on that single course in college, the Mac would have never had multiple typefaces or proportionally spaced fonts. And since Windows just copied the Mac, its likely that no personal computer would have them. If I had never dropped out, I would have never dropped in on this calligraphy class, and personal computers might not have the wonderful typography that they do. Of course it was impossible to connect the dots looking forward when I was in college. But it was very, very clear looking backwards ten years later.

Again, you can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.

My second story is about love and loss.

I was lucky — I found what I loved to do early in life. Woz and I started Apple in my parents garage when I was 20. We worked hard, and in 10 years Apple had grown from just the two of us in a garage into a $2 billion company with over 4000 employees. We had just released our finest creation — the Macintosh — a year earlier, and I had just turned 30. And then I got fired. How can you get fired from a company you started? Well, as Apple grew we hired someone who I thought was very talented to run the company with me, and for the first year or so things went well. But then our visions of the future began to diverge and eventually we had a falling out. When we did, our Board of Directors sided with him. So at 30 I was out. And very publicly out. What had been the focus of my entire adult life was gone, and it was devastating.

I really didn't know what to do for a few months. I felt that I had let the previous generation of entrepreneurs down - that I had dropped the baton as it was being passed to me. I met with David Packard and Bob Noyce and tried to apologize for screwing up so badly. I was a very public failure, and I even thought about running away from the valley. But something slowly began to dawn on me — I still loved what I did. The turn of events at Apple had not changed that one bit. I had been rejected, but I was still in love. And so I decided to start over.

I didn't see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life.

During the next five years, I started a company named NeXT, another company named Pixar, and fell in love with an amazing woman who would become my wife. Pixar went on to create the worlds first computer animated feature film, Toy Story, and is now the most successful animation studio in the world. In a remarkable turn of events, Apple bought NeXT, I returned to Apple, and the technology we developed at NeXT is at the heart of Apple's current renaissance. And Laurene and I have a wonderful family together.

I'm pretty sure none of this would have happened if I hadn't been fired from Apple. It was awful tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it. Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith. I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle.

My third story is about death.

When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: "If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right." It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?" And whenever the answer has been "No" for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.

Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.

About a year ago I was diagnosed with cancer. I had a scan at 7:30 in the morning, and it clearly showed a tumor on my pancreas. I didn't even know what a pancreas was. The doctors told me this was almost certainly a type of cancer that is incurable, and that I should expect to live no longer than three to six months. My doctor advised me to go home and get my affairs in order, which is doctor's code for prepare to die. It means to try to tell your kids everything you thought you'd have the next 10 years to tell them in just a few months. It means to make sure everything is buttoned up so that it will be as easy as possible for your family. It means to say your goodbyes.

I lived with that diagnosis all day. Later that evening I had a biopsy, where they stuck an endoscope down my throat, through my stomach and into my intestines, put a needle into my pancreas and got a few cells from the tumor. I was sedated, but my wife, who was there, told me that when they viewed the cells under a microscope the doctors started crying because it turned out to be a very rare form of pancreatic cancer that is curable with surgery. I had the surgery and I'm fine now.

This was the closest I've been to facing death, and I hope its the closest I get for a few more decades. Having lived through it, I can now say this to you with a bit more certainty than when death was a useful but purely intellectual concept:

No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

When I was young, there was an amazing publication called The Whole Earth Catalog, which was one of the bibles of my generation. It was created by a fellow named Stewart Brand not far from here in Menlo Park, and he brought it to life with his poetic touch. This was in the late 1960's, before personal computers and desktop publishing, so it was all made with typewriters, scissors, and polaroid cameras. It was sort of like Google in paperback form, 35 years before Google came along: it was idealistic, and overflowing with neat tools and great notions.

Stewart and his team put out several issues of The Whole Earth Catalog, and then when it had run its course, they put out a final issue. It was the mid-1970s, and I was your age. On the back cover of their final issue was a photograph of an early morning country road, the kind you might find yourself hitchhiking on if you were so adventurous. Beneath it were the words: "Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish." It was their farewell message as they signed off. Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish. And I have always wished that for myself. And now, as you graduate to begin anew, I wish that for you.

คุณนายกำลังจะไปเที่ยวฝรั่งเศส แต่ขึ้นชื่อว่าคุณนายแล้ว จะให้เป็นทริปธรรมดาๆ คงจะไม่ได้ แค่ตอนเตรียมตัวเที่ยวเนี่ย ชีก็ "เยอะ" จนไม่รู้จะยังไงแล้ว คาดว่าจบทริปจะกลับมาเขียนเป็นหนังสือขายกันไปเลย ตอนนี้ยังไม่มีนายทุน คุณนายเลยขอใช้พื้นที่บล็อคนี้ไปก่อน

STEP 1: DRAFT ITINERARY
ไปยุโรป เพื่อให้คุ้มกับการเดินทาง (ไปกลับก็หนึ่งวันแล้ว) เลยไปสองสัปดาห์เต็มจ้ะ คิดว่าน้อยกว่านี้ไม่ค่อยคุ้มทั้งค่าเดินทางและเวลาการเตรียมตัว ทริปนี้เป็นทริปไปเที่ยวกับคนพิเศษ (อิอิ พวกอิจฉาตาร้อนให้โอกาสไปอ้วกก่อนหนึ่งรอบ) เลยจัดไปเมืองที่มันสวยๆ โรแมนติก น่าประทับใจ กะเตรียมสวีทวีี้ดวิ่วไรงี้ ก็เลยวางไว้ง่ายๆ ว่าหนึ่งสัปดาห์ที่ปารีส หนึ่งสัปดาห์ที่โพรวองซ์

จุดนี้สำคัญนะคะคุณนาย ต้องเริ่มจากระยะเวลาและจุดมุ่งหมายที่จะไปก่อน แล้วจะได้คิดต่อได้ว่า ที่ๆจะไปควรจะเป็นเดือนไหนของปีดี จริงๆ คุณนายอยากไปซักกรกฎาฯ เพราะมีเซลล์ด้วย แต่ติดงาน T T ก็เลยไปกันยาฯเพราะอากาศยังโอฯอยู่ ไม่หนาวเกิน หรือร้อนเกิน ส่วนทำไมถึงไปแค่สองที่นี้ และไปตั้งที่ละสัปดาห์ (บางคนเค้าเที่ยวปารีสกันสองสามวันเอง) เพราะคุณนายเคยไปปารีสมาครั้งหนึ่ง คราวนั้นไปสี่วัน ได้แค่ดมๆ สถานที่ที่นักท่องเที่ยวเค้าไปกันเท่านั้นเอง คราวนี้เราไปแบบเลิฟๆ ก็อยากจะชิลๆ ไม่อยากแค่สูดอากาศที่นั่นแล้วก็กลับบ้าน อยากไปนั่งกินกาแฟที่คาเฟ่ข้างทางแล้วมองดูชาวปารีเชียงเดินกรีดกราย อยากไปเดินเดินนั่งนั่งที่สวนนู้นสวนนี้ ดูรูปปั้น ดูการจัดสวน อยากไปเดินเลาะตามตรอกเล็กซอยน้อย ค่อยๆ ซึมความเป็นปารีสเข้าไปอย่างช้าๆ อยากใช้เวลาเต็มๆ เสพศิลปะทั้งในและนอกมิวเซียมต่างๆ เอาแบบให้อิ่มอ้วกงานอาร์ตกันไปข้าง อยากไปเดินปารีสฉ่ำๆตอนดึก เอาหลังเที่ยงคืนขึ้นไป อยากเห็น City of Light ในมุมที่ถ้าเป็นแค่นักท่องเที่ยวไปกับทัวร์จะไม่ได้สัมผัส คิดว่าประมาณนี้หนึ่งสัปดาห์แทบไม่พอด้วยซ้ำ

ส่วนโพรวองซ์ คุณนายก็ไปมาแล้วรอบนึง แต่ไปแค่สองวัน สิวสิวมาก ไม่ได้ซึมซาบความสวยงามทางธรรมชาติและศิลปะอย่างที่ใจอยาก คราวนี้จะไปโรดทริป ประมาณว่าเช่ารถ แล้วค่อยๆ ลัดเลาะไปทีละเมือง กะจะเก็บให้หมดเลยทั้งส่วนตะวันตกทั้งหมดของโพรวองซ์ เจ็ดวันกำลังงาม มีเวลาชิลๆ ค่อยๆ เดินดูเมืองเล็กเมืองน้อย กินอาหารฝรั่งเศสตามร้านอร่อยที่ราคาถูกเว่อร์ ไปดูทั้งปราสาท เมืองเก่า บ้านเก่า เมืองที่ตั้งอยู่บนหุบเขา และโน่นนั่นนี่อีกเพียบ

STEP 2: TRANSPORTATION
ที่สำคัญต่อจากนั้นคือจะไปยังไงจากจุดหนึ่งไปอีกจุดหนึ่ง สำหรับตั๋วเครื่องบินกรุงเทพฯ - ปารีส - กรุงเทพฯ เนี่ย พอหาไปหามาแล้วปรากฎว่าเค้าลดกันกระจายเหมือนกันแฮะ เอาเป็นว่าถ้าต้องจ่ายเกิน 40,000 บาทนี่คือแพงเกินแน่ๆ ค่ะ ที่ถูกที่สุด(โดยเฉพาะเวลาลด) น่าจะเป็น Air Asia, Etihad, Gulf Air ราคาช่วงลดรวมภาษีประมาณ 26,000 บาท แต่ที่เซอร์ไพรส์มากคือ Air France, KLM, Austrian Airline, Thai Airways ก็ลดเรื่อยๆ ราคาประมาณ 35,000 บาท เวิร์คมากกก

ภายในประเทศนี่ปรากฎว่าจากปารีสไปโพรวองซ์นี่รถไฟเวิร์คสุดๆ จากปารีสไป Avignon มีรถไฟเร็ววิ่งแค่สองชั่วโมงครึ่งเองอ่ะ แถมไม่แพงด้วย ตั๋วประมาณสองพันบาท มีรถไฟตรงไปสนามบินเลยด้วย ไม่ต้องเสียเวลา วันกลับ คุณนายเลยจัดให้ตัวเอง นั่งตรงจากโพรวองซ์ไปสนามบิน Charles de Gaulle ซะเลย ตั๋วรถไฟก็ซื้อได้เลยตั้งแต่อยู่ที่นี่ ดูราคาและตารางเดินรถได้ที่ Rail Europe Website

ส่วนภายในโพรวองซ์ คุณนายกะจะเช่ารถเลิฟๆ แต่ขอย้ำว่าอย่าลืมไปทำใบขับขี่สากล ทำได้เลยที่กรมการขนส่งทางบกจ้ะ เตรียมแค่พาสปอร์ตและใบขับขี่ของไทย และเงิน (น่าจะพันนึงนะ) ก็ทำได้แล้ว เพราะต้องใช้เวลารับรถ การเช่ารถนี่จะดีมากถ้าคุณนายหรือเพื่อนร่วมทริปขับรถเกียร์กระปุกได้ เพราะจะมีรถให้เลือกมากกว่าและถูกกว่ามาก ไม่แนะนำให้เช่าเกียร์ออโต้เลยจริงๆ ส่วนใหญ่คุณนายจะเช่า EuropCar หรือ Budget เป็นหลักนะ

วันนี้เอาไปเบาะๆ แค่นี้ก่อน ยังเตรียมตัวไม่เสร็จ เพราะยังมีที่พักและอีกหลายเรื่อง ซึ่งสำหรับคุณนายแล้ว พักที่ไหนนี่สำคัญมากๆๆๆ ไหนจะเตรียมหาข้อมูลอีกว่าควรไปกิน เดิน เที่ยวที่ไหน บอกแล้วว่าไปเที่ยวกับคุณนาย ธรรมดาได้ซะที่ไหนล่ะจ๊ะ แล้วเจอกันตอนสอง :)

คุณนายทั้งหลายคงคุ้นชินกับคำว่า fashionista กันอยู่แล้ว แปลประมาณว่า หญิงสาวที่ชื่นชอบแฟชั่น วันนี้คุณนายหน่อยจะมานำเหนอคำใหม่ คือคำว่า hedonista คุณนายคงเคยได้ยินคำว่า hedonism, hedonistic, หรือ hedonist กันมาบ้าง แปลประมาณได้ว่า ศาสตร์ว่าด้วยการดำเนินชีวิตด้วยการเสพย์สุข สุขเยอะๆเศร้าน้อยๆเป็นดี ทีนี้ภาษาละตินเวลาจะเปลี่ยนคำนามเป็นเพศหญิง เราเติม -a อันนี้คุณนายก็เลยเติม -a เข้าไปให้กลายเป็น hedonista จึงน่าจะแปลได้ว่า หญิงสาวที่นิยมดำเนินชีวิตด้วยการเสพย์สุข

จริงๆ เรื่องศาสตร์แห่งการเสพย์สุขนี้มีเรื่องเล่าได้อีกเยอะ แต่วันนี้เอาสั้นๆ ก่อนเนอะ ก็คือคุณนายอยากเชิญชวนให้ทุกคนลองมองหาวิธีเสพย์สุขของตัวเอง วิธีที่ไม่แพง ทำได้ง่ายๆ และได้ความสุขจริงๆ (ถ้าเป็นไปได้ ผลข้างเคียงต่อตนเองและผู้อื่นน้อยที่สุด) อ่ะ คุณนายยกตัวอย่างของตัวเองให้ฟังดีกว่า วิธีบำบัดความสุขง่ายๆ ได้ผลเร็วของคุณนายคือ ร้องเพลงให้ตัวเองฟัง นั่งเปิดแมกกาซีนแฟชั่นผ่านๆให้เห็นเสื้อผ้าใหม่ๆภาพโฆษณาใหม่ แช่เท้า-ขัดเท้า-ทาครีม-นวดเท้าด้วยตนเอง แต่งหน้า(โดยเฉพาะตอนปัดขนตา) กินไอศกรีม swensen's รส peanut butter นวดอโรมา ฟังเพลงเพราะๆซักเพลง ดูหนังดีๆซักเรื่อง ฯลฯ

ง่่ายพอมั้ยคะ คุณนายสามารถคิดได้อีกสิบยี่สิบเรื่องอย่างง่ายๆ เลย คุณนายคนอื่นๆ มีวิธีสร้างความสุขอย่างง่ายๆ บ้างไหม ถ้าไม่มี หรือยังมีน้อยอยู่ ลองเปลี่ยนความคิดแล้วทำอะไรเพื่อตัวเองง่ายๆ บ้างไหมคะ แล้วคุณนายจะพบว่าความสุขหาง่ายเสพย์ง่ายกว่าที่คิด

แต่คุณนายค้นพบว่า ความสุขแบบข้างบนบางทีมันก็เข้ามาแล้วก็หายไป ไม่ค่อยยืนยาว หรือมีความหมายลึกซึ้งกับเรามากนัก (แต่ก็ยังจำเป็น และควรทำอยู่บ่อยๆนะ) ความสุขจากอะไรบางอย่างที่มีความหมายเชิงลึกกับเราเนี่ย มันยืนยาวกว่า แล้วมันก็จับใจ ฝังลึกกว่า และจริงๆก็ทำได้ง่ายๆ เหมือนกัน ความสุขประเภทนี้ทำให้ใจอุ่น ใจพอง ร่างกายแข็งแรง อารมณ์ดี ยิ้มง่าย ตัวอย่างจากคุณนายเองก็เช่น การได้แซวแม่ตัวเองจนแม่ขำหรือเขิน การได้แลกเปลี่ยนความคิด,ได้คุยเรื่องลึกๆกับเพื่อนสนิท การได้ช่วยแนะนำเรื่องเรียนต่อหรือการทำงานให้คนที่เด็กกว่าเรา การที่หลานตัวเองวิ่งมากอด การได้ขับรถไปหาคนรู้ใจ (เพราะธรรมดาเค้าจะขับมาหาเราตลอด) การได้บอกรักและได้รับการบอก ฯลฯ

คุณนายมานั่งคิดว่าทำไมความสุขแบบนี้มันดี๊ดี โด๊นโดน อือม คงเพราะมันเป็นความสุขที่เราไม่ได้เสพย์อยู่คนเดียวมั้ง เราแบ่งปันให้คนอีกคนหรืออีกหลายคนได้เสพย์สุขไปด้วย เราก็เลยสุขเพิ่มขึ้นจากการที่คนอื่นสุขเพราะเรา เป็นเอฟเฟคยกกำลังอะไรทำนองนี้

ก่อนจะจากไป อยากฝากไว้อีกอย่างกับคนที่ในใจกลัวว่า ถ้าเราเป็น hedonista เราจะเห็นแก่ตัวมั้ยที่เอาแต่แสวงหาความสุขใส่ตัวแบบนี้ ก็ไม่อยากตอบว่าใช่หรือไม่ใช่หรอก แล้วแต่คนจะมอง คุณนายก็แค่มองว่า ตราบใดที่การหาความสุขของเราไม่ไปสร้างความเดือดร้อนให้กับใคร มันก็น่าจะเป็นสิทธิ์ในการเลือกใช้ชีวิตของเราไม่ใช่เหรอ ที่จะเลือกทำหรือไม่ทำอะไร อีกอย่างนะคะ คนที่มีความสุขในตัวเองเพียงพอเท่านั้นแหล่ะที่จะสามารถเผื่อแผ่ความสุขให้กับผู้อื่นได้อย่างเต็มที่และอย่างจริงใจ

เบื่อไหม เวลาที่ต้องไปงานแต่งงานคนเดียว กลับคนเดียว ต้องไปมองหาคนที่รู้จักในงานจะได้ไม่ต้องยืนกร่อยอยู่คนเดียว หรือไม่ก็ต้องโทรหาเพื่อนสาวโสดคนอื่นเพื่อนัดกันไป เวลาเห็นวิดีโอพรีเซ็นเทชั่นของคู่บ่าวสาวแล้วนึกอยู่ในใจลึกๆ ว่าถ้าเป็นงานเรา เราจะใช้เพลงอะไร แต่ก็ไม่รู้เหมือนกันว่ามันจะเกิดขึ้นเมื่อไหร่

สาวๆจ๋า... ชีวิตมันก็ยากอยู่แล้วนะ ไหนจะต้องต่อสู้ในที่ทำงาน ต้องให้ผลงานเข้าตากรรมการ ต้องดูแลลูกน้อง ดูแลธุรกิจให้ราบรื่น ไหนจะต้องดูแลพ่อแม่พี่น้อง ญาติโก ทั้งหลายที่ตั้งความหวังกับเราให้เราเป็นลูกสาว, พี่สาว, น้องสาว, หลานสาวที่ดี ไหนจะต้องดูแลตัวเองให่ไม่อ้วน ไม่แก่ ไม่เหียว ไม่ดำ ไม่ป่วย ไม่โทรม ในยุคที่สาวประเภทสองสวย ขาว สูง และขาเรียวกว่าเราหลายเท่า ไหนจะต้องทำใจให้ได้กับเหตุการณ์บ้านเมืองที่วุ่นวาย เดี๋ยวเสื้อเหลือง เสื้อแดง นายกหน้าเหลี่ยม นายกหน้าหล่อ รัฐบาลทะเลาะกันเอง ฝ่ายค้านค้านแบบหน้าด้านๆ เดี๋ยวเผาเมือง เดี๋ยวยุบสภาฯ พระข่มขืนเณร เด็กชนคนตายแล้วไม่มีความผิด ฯลฯ

ชีวิตมันยาก และเหนื่อย และกดดันมากพออยู่แล้ว... ทำไมถึงอยากเพิ่มเรื่องไอ้สถานะที่คุณเป็นโสดมากดดันตัวเองอีกเรื่องนึงเล่า ในทั้งหมดทุกคนที่กดดันคุณอยู่ ความรู้สึกของตัวคุณเองเนี่ยแหล่ะสำคัญสุด และมีความหมายมากสุด ถ้าเราเองยังกดดัน ตำหนิ ต่อว่าตัวเองอยู่ จะคิดต่อสู้ความกดดันที่มาจากคนอื่นได้ยังไงล่ะจ๊ะ

ตัวคุณเองน่ะเจ๋งจะตายไป รู้ตัวบ้างรึเปล่า ชีวิตก็ดี การงานก็ดี (เพิ่มหน้าตาก็ดีเข้าไปอีกหนึ่ง) อยากให้คุณตระหนักถึงความเยี่ยมยอดของตัวเอง แล้วยืดอกน้อมรับสถานภาพโสดอย่างเต็มภาคภูมิ แล้วบอกกับตัวเองและคนรอบข้างว่า "ก็ชั้นเลือกจะโสด ใครจะทำไม ชั้นเองยังไม่เดือดร้อน ชีวิตชั้นก็มีความสุขดีแล้วคุณคนอื่นๆ จะเดือดร้อนกันแทนชั้นทำไมกันจ๊ะ" (พร้อมแจกยิ้มกว้างแบบจริงใจสุดๆ)

และการที่คุณอยู่ในช่วง thirty something กันแล้ว ก็ไม่ได้แปลว่าคุณต้องรีบตะครุบหนุ่มคนต่อไปที่เข้ามาในชีวิตนะจ๊ะ ก็ในเมื่อมันรอมาได้ขนาดนี้แล้ว รอต่อไปอีกซักหน่อย ก็คงไม่เป็นไรมั้ง แล้วถึงรอแล้วไม่มา ก็คงไม่เป็นไรอีกนั่นแหล่ะ ดีกว่าลงเอยไปกับคนที่ไม่ใช่ เพียงเพื่อที่จะหนีสถานภาพโสดของตัวเอง อย่างนั้นมันคงเศร้าเกินไปจริงๆ

เคยดูหนังเรื่อง 13 Going on 30 กันรึเปล่า ในหนังเค้าพูดถึงผู้หญิงอายุ 30 ไว้ว่า "30, flirty, and thriving!" นั่นล่ะ สาวเลขสามตัวจริง ถ้ายังไม่รู้สึกดีขึ้น ให้ไปดู Sex and the City series ที่พูดถึงผู้หญิง 30 something สี่คนที่ fab สุดๆ ที่ไม่ว่าจะมีผู้ชายหรือไม่มี ชีวิตก็เริ่ดเชิดหยิ่งอยู่ได้ อ่ะ ถ้ายังไม่รู้สึกดีขึ้นอีก ให้ไปฟังเพลง "สามสิบยังแจ๋ว" ของยอดรัก สลักใจอีกเพลงละกัน

อยากให้สาวๆ ทุกคนใช้ชีวิตช่วงเลขสามกันอย่างเปี่ยมสุข อย่างมีศักดิ์ศรี อย่างเต็มไปด้วยความรัก... รักใครน่ะเหรอ ก็รักตัวเองนี่แหล่ะ ง่ายจะตายไป เริ่มจากคนที่ใกล้ตัวคุณที่สุดคนนี้ก่อน แล้วถ้ามีผู้ชายที่โชคดีคนนั้นปรากฎขึ้นมาในชีวิต ค่อยคิดและพิจารณาให้ถ้วนถี่ก่อนจะเผื่อแผ่ความรักที่มีอยู่เพียบไปให้เค้าก็ละกัน

There's Summer & Tom in everyone of us

Hi Khunnais,

Tonight I watched 500 Days of Summer for the xx time. Well, I love this movie. There hasn't been any boy-meets-girl movie that I prefer over this one since. I really recommend you see it if you haven't.

It's a great story about modern relationship, where the guy isn't that typical guy from Mars, and the girl isn't really from Venus. Tom, played by sweet Joseph-Gorden Levitt, talks about his feelings to his friends and his sister, and describes why he adores Summer at length. He gets attached. He wants to define the status of their relationship. He believes in love and soul mate. Summer, played by the effervescent Zooey Deschanel, wants to be in the relationship for the ride, not looking for anything serious. She avoids "the talk". And she thinks true love is a fairy tale the way Santa Claus is.

I identify with Tom at some point in my life, and with Summer at the other. You know there were times you think this one is it, and you went for it so wholeheartedly only to realize that you ran and ran and ran all alone. There were times when you really wanted it to be it coz the other person is so good to you, but you knew all along that he is not your 'it' so you had to end it, thus hurting him.

500 Days is not your typical boy-meets-girl film coz it carries so much pain in it (unlike a normal rom-com which is always happy and cheerful). Tom didn't understand why he and Summer didn't work out when he knew the first time he met her that she was the one for him. Yet amongst the mourning and aching of Tom, the film offers hope. As if it tries to say that losing one love isn't the end of the world. It is the beginning of a new journey. Maybe it's a journey for you to a meet the right one, who might be waiting just around the corner.

So why bother suffering through all these pains at all? Coz when you miraculously meet the right one, any pain you have suffered is worth it. And you will be thankful for all Summers you have met, coz all the wrong things happened with you and Summers make it crystal clear what it feels like when you meet the right one.

A Reason, A Season, or A Lifetime

People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. When you figure out which one it is, you will know what to do for each person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON . . . It is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend, and they are! They are there for the reason you need them to be.

Then, without any wrong doing on your part, or at aninconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.

Sometimes they die.
Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.

What we must realise is that our need has been met, ourdesire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered. And now it is time to move on.

When people come into your life for a SEASON . . .
Because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace, or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons; things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person, and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Today is the International Women's Day. So I've been thinking what I should write to commemorate the moment. I've seen Natalie Portman since she was that little girl in Leon the Professional. I really liked her in Leon, and then in Closer. But I've never seen her so dedicated and committed as she was in Black Swan.

I watched the trailer and I told myself that this is a must see. A psychological thriller about a ballerina, immersing herself into the lead role of a queen swan in the ballet Swan Lake. In the process, she has transformed from innocent to evil, and was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Quite formulaic for this genre, I thought, but anyhow, it looked like my kinda movie.

It was my kinda movie, but it even did exceed my expectation. I wasn't expect it to be this gripping, haunting, and affecting. The style and techniques that the movie employed were to make the audience feel the way the lead role feels. We felt insecure, isolated, fearful, pressured of the unknown territory yet tempting to cross over. I felt the handheld camera technique (which made me nauseous at times), how they intentionally played with black & white (Nina always wore white at the beginning, and the minute she started wearing black, we know she has entered into the other side), the hauntingly effective music score, and the deep, dark hallucinations Nina experienced.

To top that, I thought I knew the formula, and how the story would go and end. The story went the way I thought, but yet, it was still able to create such disturbing but involving feeling. And I felt like I couldn't blink up until the very ending scene.

As for Ms. Portman, she has blossomed into such an established actress. In this movie, she made me believe her with her eyes.. and her entire body, not to mention almost all the ballet sequences that she did herself. But more importantly than the dances, she connected to Nina so deep that we believed in her uptight, self-doubt, fragile white swan side in her, as well as willingly followed her when she warped into that ambitious, self-absorbed, raunchy black swan side. Allow me to use Nina's very own word to compliment Natalie on her role in Black Swan, "I felt it. It was... perfect". Thanks for a wonderful acting, I do hope the Academy reward you with something tomorrow.

I have a relationship with music. It's probably similar to guys and their favorite football teams. You know this one is going to stay with you for a very very long time.

I collect music. It's probably the only thing I collect seriously ... for as long as I remember .. and for many years to come. Of course the forms of collection change over time, from cassette to CD, and from CD to digital file. To me, my music collections, including my playlists, are invaluable. I wouldn't trade it for anything (well.. except maybe for a very very big amount of money).

I've been cheating my true love for a while now. I mean that I haven't been supporting music properly, instead I've been behaving like any other online listener. What can I do? The pirate stuffs seem so tempting: they are cheaper (or free), and easier to get. I must say I had no shame. I still love music, but what I've been doing does not help her industry very much.

Only recently that I wanted to buy a nice hi-fi audio system, I was inspired to buy the real CDs again. I was made to believe, and actually do believe now, that there is a difference in sound, and meaning, to buy & listen to real CDs. There are good quality ones out there that make a difference. And the quest to find them is actually quite fun.

I found one shop called "INT Hi-Fi" on the 4th floor of Central World. In there, I found a lot of great CDs. Or I can say I found a community of people who also have intimate relationship with music. There are many rare & imported CDs, DVDs, SACDs, Vinyls, or even used ones. I bought 3 CDs that day. One was the soundtrack of 'Next Stop Wonderland' (imported) which I loved both the songs and the score from many years back, but only had a CD copy from my advertising colleague. One was the soundtrack of 'Moulin Rouge' (imported) of which I only had mp3 in my iPod despite owning 5 spaces in my all time favorite playlist. And the other was the amazingly brilliant Stevie Wonder's 20 Love Songs Classic Hits (imported of course), only 4 of which I knew.

I love both the soundtracks of course. But Stevie's CD was such a pleasant surprise. It was probably his early body of works. The sound was raw & pure, very soulful, and innocent. I discovered many new favorite songs, one of which is as old as 39 years (the hauntingly beautiful Never Dream You'd Leave in Summer).

So for any Khunnai / Khunchai out there who are into music and want to fresh up your relationship, you might want to drop by this wonderful little shop and relive your moment of buying great music very soon. As for me? Central World no longer stands for just Topshop & Forever 21, it also reconnects me with something I love but had overlooked for way too long.

ตลอดทริป นอกจากเราจะได้เกร็ดความรู้เกี่ยวกับสถานที่สำคัญๆ ของเวียดนามแล้ว เรายังได้ฟังบทบรรยายประวัติศาสตร์ของประเทศเวียดนาม (และไทย) อย่างละเอียด ในมุมมองของคนเวียดนาม แบบที่หาอ่านที่ไหนไม่ได้ในอินเตอร์เน็ท ได้ฟังยุทธศาสตร์การรบของชาวเวียดกงต่อกองทัพอเมริกาที่ดูภายนอก เหมือนจะด้อยกว่า แต่กลับต้านแรงเหล่าอเมริกันไว้ได้ จนเค้ายอมแพ้ ได้ฟังน้ำคำของคนที่อยู่ในเหตุการณ์จริงๆ ได้ฟังถึง "ใจ" ของลุงถวิล และ "ใจ" ของคนร่วมชาติของลุง ที่ทำให้ชาวอ้อยอิ่งทัวร์ของเราเต็มตื้นและซาบซึ้งจริงๆ

ลุงยังมีความน่ารักอีกหลายกระบุง เล่าสามวันไม่จบ ความรักของลุงกับ "เธอ" ของลุงนั้นยิ่งกว่าบุพเพสันนิวาส (ลุงเรียกแทนภรรยาตัวเองกับพวกเราว่า "เธอ") รักกันก่อนรบ แยกกันไปคนละกองพล แล้วกลับมาเจอกันในป่าระหว่างสงครามเลยแต่งกัน (ลุงบอกว่าเพราะเธออยากให้แต่งเลย) อยู่ด้วยกันแป๊บๆ ก็แยกกองพลกันอีก แล้วดันได้มาเจอกัน (โดยมิได้นัดหมาย) หลังรบที่โฮจิมินข์ ถ้าไม่เรียกว่ายิ่งกว่าบุพเพฯ แล้วจะเรียกอะไร ลุงโรแมนติกมาก ลุงบอกว่า เวลาลุงมาทำงานไม่เจอกันนานๆ ก็จะโทรกลับไปหาเธอ ถามว่า เธอกินข้าวรึยัง คิดถึงกันบ้างรึเปล่า ผู้หญิงในอ้อยอิ่งทัวร์ของเราถึงกับน้ำตาซึมด้วยความปลื้ม (แกมอิจฉา)

Love, life, and something in between

Khunnais,

Probably because it's new year. Probably because I just had a hair cut. Probably because yesterday I watched Hanamizuki. Probably because I went to see a fortune teller recently. Whatever the reason is.. I was thinking about this on my way home from work, and I wanted to capture it.

It's January 2011, which means I'm getting a year older. And I asked myself how I feel. And I told myself that I feel good, no scratch that, I feel great. And I'm single, super single actually. Super single means that you are single and you are not on the progress of not being one. So I wondered why. Aren't I supposed to be worried about my status in life, about finding the right one, about getting married, about settling down, about not wasting time being single? I wondered why I feel great despite all that.

And then I countered myself, why not? Why can't I feel great just because I'm not in a relationship, and on the way to marriage? I'm not saying that I don't want to be in one, and that I don't want love, or a boyfriend, or a husband. I just don't rush it, when I say "it", I mean "life". I'm just not worried when I happen to be in the idle phase in this segment of life. I just take life as it comes to me. Today, other segments seem to occupy more time for me. So be it. Love will come, and go, and come again, and will eventually stay (for a while at least), and will eventually go. There is no point anticipating, or worrying, or feeling guilty.

I was fighting back and forth with myself whether to write this. Because it might appear like I'm being defensive, or sour grape. Whatever it may appear. I wanted to write this so that one day when I'm lost in the waves of others' thoughts, when people are putting thoughts into my head that somehow my life is incomplete, wasted, and not fulfilled just because of the status I choose to be in, I can come back and read what I think & write today.

I also want to remind me when I re-read this. That I'm not anti love. I had loved. I'd lost it, and found it again. And that I love being in love, and I also love being alone. I still cherish love so much so that I will surely embrace it when it comes around. I'm therefore not anti marriage. I'm ready for both. When they are ready for me. But in the mean time, I'm not gonna waste time being unhappy.

There was a generation X. There was a generation Y. Now it is a generation app.

As Khunnai mentioned in the old blog when I started to become an iKhunnai, I have embodied the philosophy of "there's an app for that". So once in a while, I share my love with the fellow Khunnais that, yes, there's an app for 'that'.

A lot of people have asked me which app I use for photo editing. I use several. And there are lots. And you don't really need sophisticated photo editing skills, but you do need some skills.

Then now, there's an app for those who has no editing skills whatsoever. All you need to do is to choose the photo, then, viola, your photo will be retouched, brightened, smoothened almost like done by a pro.

Khunnai likes to dine: Vino di Zanotti in Khao Yai

Dear Khunnais,

I've been trying to avoid having Italian food since I left Italy. Not that I'm not fond of the food. Quite contrary, actually. But it's because I know myself. I know I'd be super critical and comparing everything to my eating experience in Italy.

I also knew that one day it'd hit me...that my life in Italy is finally over. I knew that one day I'd really miss my life there. That day came precisely 3 weeks after I left Italy, and the day I had Italian food the first time since I left...

It was Vino di Zanotti in Khao Yai. My friends wanted to dine there, mainly coz of the location. It's situation against the backdrop of Khao Yai hillside, sunflower garden and the nature green. At night, there's a 3-piece jazz band playing light jazz music. Somehow, they convinced me, and I went with them.

What did I think about the place? Like I said, at first, I was super critical, couldn't help it. I was expecting what I expected in Italy, change of plate from antipasti to primi piatti, all primi to come at the same time, etc. And I was not enjoying the moments. There and then, I started to miss my life in Italy. I started to realize that all the "Italiano" I experienced day in - day out has gone, no more, nothing, full stop.

Eventually I started to see the point of being there, which was to enjoy the time with my friends. Good that my friends are all old friends so they can bear with me being me. And even thou I behaved really annoyingly, they let me be. Well, after seeing the point, I started to enjoy Vino and all that it had to offer. Which is quite spectacular. At night, they lit up the hillside with fire and lanterns. In early December, the temperature was about 20, perfect weather to be honest. It was father's day so we enjoyed the fireworks.

We lingered there from 5 to 9 something, staying true to Italian style of slow food. Some of the dishes were actually really good (and overall it was good). Before I left, I got to speak to two Italians, Roberto, who is the manager of Vino, and Gianmaria, who Roberto introduced me as the main chef of Zanotti in Bangkok. So I learned that they are from Torino, Piemonte. And I shared with them how I love truffles (which is also from Piemonte). So they invited me to have truffle dinner at Zanotti. Maybe I should give it a try and let you guys know how that one goes.

So, yes, I miss you, Italy, a lot. For the time being, I can only catch a glimpse of you, blended nicely in my homeland. And to my surprise, I quite like the taste of it.
